ENEDIS : Development of Fiori applications

A major French power grid operator entrusted Aymax to meet its various needs as part of the improvement and optimization of its management system (ERP, SAP Serval, IRIS). Our team implemented a Fiori business application to address each of these business challenges. To meet the unique requirements of our client, our teams developed an innovative Fiori application that adheres to industry best practices. The requirements included the integration of key modules, such as MM, SD, FI-CO, PS, RE-FX, FI-AA, EWM and BW4, with centralisation of the various accesses between transactional and decision-making via a Fiori portal, as well as integration with this electricity company’s other main solutions. The aim of this project is to achieve results based on a more fluid, more integrated working environment that is perfectly adapted to business requirements. 

A comprehensive approach to various challenges 

This transformation project focuses on the complete overhaul of SAP’s business management solutions. Identified objectives include renewing the company’s steering model, contributing to the performance of operational processes, improving the conditions under which business activities are carried out, and increasing the reliability of data and reporting. In addition, the programme incorporates regulatory and security constraints at an early stage, ensuring a comprehensive and proactive approach to meeting the company’s evolving needs. 

Optimal process management through a centralised solution 

The project followed a well-defined process, passing through several strategic stages to meet the specific needs of our client: 

  • Customized development: that combines ABAP programming language proficiency with Fiori expertise to ensure smooth, customized functioning. 
  • Extending the standard: Our team adapted the Fiori applications to the needs formulated by using customised zones and logic (CFL). 
  • Adaptation and flexibility: Use of the Adapt UI mode and personas within Fiori, enabling a key user to adapt the user interface without having to write code. 
  • Activation of standard tiles: Aymax created groups, catalogues, and dedicated spaces, facilitating access to essential functions via standard tiles. This organised structure has simplified navigation and improved operational efficiency. 
  • CDS reporting: Generate analytical reports based on CDS queries, providing detailed, actionable information for informed decision-making. 

Setting up the project: Systems and methodology applied 

Project structure 

  • 16 full-stack SAP FIORI and ABAP consultants, 6 functional SAP consultants specialising in the Immo, SD, MM and FI domains, 2 SAP Basis consultants and 3 SAP RDD consultants. 
  • Both the front-end and back-end of the project were completed fully on the customer’s offices in Paris. 
  • Tasks are completed according to activity, with time allocation prioritized by business and technical tasks managed concurrently with business requirements. 

Project organisation 

  • An Agile SAFE methodology that includes all parties, ceremonies, and deliverables. 
  • A well-defined scope to guarantee the operational perimeter of the consultants and the assurance of the deliverable’s evolution. 
  • Detailed planning with the implementation of an evolving roadmap that plans the development of the various parts of the project. 
  • A Post-Go-Live phase that includes the integration of new developments, improvements, and maintenance of the immo solution. 

The results of the solution for this major electricity company 

The Fiori application, developed by our teams, has produced impressive results for the French electricity network company: 

  1. Centralising accounting data for detailed monitoring of the company’s financial health: 
    • COCKPIT: an interface bringing together all the data linked to incoming operations, such as the correction of anomalies detected and the posting of documents, filtered by period and company. 
  2. Monitoring of budgets, income, and expenditure within the company to help estimate costs for the next accounting period: 
    • Customised reporting interface, enabling you to compare budgets, purchases, sales, and accounting entries over a defined period. This data can also be viewed graphically on the same interface. 
  3. Increase team productivity by enabling them to search for and manage different purchasing contracts from a single interface: 
    • A single Fiori tile enabling users to create, modify and display all purchase contracts, by period, fiscal year, and company, quickly and easily.
